With a new month comes a new blogging strategy... at least a fresh perspective.
Many of you have noticed that Love & Society has made a little bit of a shift from previous posts. Before I would post whatever came to me without really a purpose or a plan which is why my posts would be sporadic and aimless. I believe that a life worth living is an intentional life, yet I was not being very intentional with this blog. Essentially, Love & Society had no purpose.
As a blogger, it's important to support others in the blogging community and I noticed that all my favorite bloggers had a niche. The reason I kept coming back was because there was a focus to their blog. There may be a few posts here and there that don't mesh with the other posts, however for the most part, all the posts had a theme. A point that aligned with their focus.
Which had me really reflect on what my purpose is and how I want Love & Society to align with that.
So I'm slowing but surely re-branding Love & Society to be a faith based lifestyle blog, focused on intentional living.
Now, I'm not going to lie, this is a little scary, I feel a little "exposed", and at times I struggle with talking about Jesus. Not because I'm ashamed (check out: An Unashamed Life in Christ) but because I don't want to be THAT person. We all know THAT person. The person that can't hold a normal conversation without shoving Jesus down your throat. Can't laugh at a joke, can't watch anything other than Joel Osteen and T.D. Jakes, and can't listen to anything other than Hillsong. Listen, those are all amazing things but they tend to make us unapproachable. People feel they can't related with you because you think The Simpsons is demonic and my heart as a Christian is to always be approachable, because Jesus was approachable.
Yet, I can't help but notice that my social engagement has increased since I have started talking about Jesus, which tells me that my audience is generally interested in hearing more. That people are curious and hungry to know God more. Of course there are people who won't be interested in what I have to say, and that's okay because it's not for them anyway. To be clear, the message and love of Jesus Christ is for everybody, I just might not be the package that's preferable for them.
So here we are.
New month, same blog, different focus.
As always, thanks for reading.
