DIY: Lemon Body Scrub
When life hands you lemons... make a body scrub!
In the past year or so, I’ve really put a huge focus on holistic health. A small part of holistic health that I am starting to explore more is learning about simple natural products that are good for the body. I pull inspiration from women like Dawn Michelle of Minimalist Beauty and Whitney of Naptural85 who use or make natural beauty products for their everyday health and care. Eventually I will live a life where I’m eating whole, non-processed foods and using products that aren’t laden with chemicals and are cruelty-free.
I was recently at Whole Foods with Antoinette and walked past their body scrubs that you could buy by the pound. It inspired me to go home and make my own body scrub and I feel like slapping myself in the face for not thinking to make this YEARS ago! This scrub makes my skin soooo soft and I’m ADDICTED; plus you can never go wrong with a nice lemon scent. This scrub has literally 3 ingredients, cost under $5 dollars and all the ingredients that you use for the scrub can be put IN your body which meets the criteria that I look for in a natural beauty product. Check out the details below:
DIY Lemon Body Scrub:
- 5 cups of Sugar: This is the equivalent to about 40 ounces of sugar or two full jars (pictured to the right).
- 1/3 cup of Coconut Oil: Try to find cold pressed, unrefined organic coconut oil. Olive oil can be substituted for coconut oil, I just had an abundance of coconut oil and I love the scent.
- 5 Lemons - Use all the juice and zest from each lemon. Roll your lemons before squeezing to get more juice out of them. #RachelRayTaughtMe
Mix. Exfoliate. Enjoy.
The quantities of ingredients made two batches of body scrub. Feel free to divide the ingredients in half for a smaller size.
